Time for a Touch of Whimsy

As much as I love charcoal drawings of leaves
(and I srsly do)
I felt I needed to take a break and do something different.

So I perused through my files of old drawings and found an Inktober drawing that I really liked:

I've wanted to see it in color ever since I finished this sketch.

It took a slightly different turn than I had originally imagined, but that's how the creative process goes sometimes.
Here's the finished piece:

You can find it in all the Suspended Dreams shops. Check it out. Like it. Share it.
Because that would be great.
Thanks!

Halloween Continues to Approach

My only regret this Inktober is that I didn't make more of an effort to get involved with other artists on it. The competition and inspiration from comparing to others' work is hard to replace.

But there's only one week left of this, and the rest of my life (you know, stuff like being a wife and a mom and keeping the house together...not-so-small stuff) is starting to catch up with me.

Getchya caught up on Inktober thus far:

Day 20 - Bats and a kitty

Day 21 - Witch's kitty

Day 22 - My kitty (this one is alarmingly accurate to real life)

Day 23 - The mask I wish I owned and would wear EVERY DAY

Day 24 - Haunted Forest

And there is a lovely Autumn storm brewing up outside. It's perfect: overcast skies, gusty winds, gold and yellow leaves whipping past my window. Aaaah. Life is good.

Halfway Through Inktober

It surprises me how well Inktober has been going this year. We are more than halfway through the month and I have been keeping up.

Admirably, I might add.

Want to see?

Day 11 - Haunted House
Day 12 - The Crucible

Day 13 - Silly Ghosts

Day 14 - Bats

Day 15 - Kitty Witch

Day 16 - Downright Creepy

Day 17 - Jack-o-Lantern

Day 18 - Birthday to my sister

Day 19 - Skull

See?

Sure, nothing else is getting done in my life, like...at all, but this creative momentum feels good.

Spooky Backgrounds are Fun To Do

Cuz he needed a background:

I guess I should give a shout-out Thank-You to my sister Good Moe-Jo for teaching me how to digitally paint an AWESOME looking full moon. (click the link, check out her comics - they're adorable and hilarious)

This spooky picture WITH awesome background can be printed on notebooks, phone cases, and other things on Redbubble or Design By Humans

And it's the first day of Drawlloween and Inktober!!!

GAH!

I'll get on that right away, I swear!

(digital ink counts for inktober, right?)

Halloween Approacheth...

Autumn is upon us and Halloween is around the corner.

And I realized, I need a boatload more Halloween pictures for Redbubble, Design By Humans, and TeePublic.

So I'm getting to work.

Also, I was going to do Drawlloween again this year, but there are two different 2016 calendars out and neither of them look that appealing anyway...so I guess I'm jumping in the Inktober bandwagon this year.
Anyone want to join me? Follow me on Twitter @SuspendedDreams, tag me in you #Inktober drawings and we'll do it together!

Happy Halloween!

What else should I draw for Halloween? I'm open to suggestions.

Last Day of Drawlloween and Inktober

Happy Halloween!

I had so much fun with Drawlloween this year. Jo (of Good Moe-Jo) has convinced me that we should do a GraNoWriMo version of NaNoWriMo (Graphic Novel Writing Month).

More on that after some Halloween pictures!

Day 26 - Rat

Day 27 - Witch

Day 28 - Black Cat

Day 29 - Scarecrow

Day 30 - Spider (Ha!)

Day 31 - Dragon (so fearsome!)
Ahhh, that was fun.

So, me and Jo, doing GraNoWriMo. Basic idea is to draw 30 pages of a graphic novel. For those who don't know: it takes A LOT of work to make a page if you're working alone. Roughs, inking, color, word bubbles....there's a lot of work. These pages will be in the rough draft stage, for sure.

But, srsly, 30 pages of a graphic novel, even if they're rough drafts, would be pretty awesome. So let's do it!

More Halloween Sketches

17 - Demon
18 - Mask

Not sure why but I could not come up with any inspiration for "Demon." I thought of Demon Llama (Kuzko? Anyone? Squeak squeaken?) but I could not summon up any desire to draw a demon.

So in 30 seconds, I did this:

Day 17 - Demon
Ta-da. A demon.

Mask was waaaay more fun.

When looking up reference photos for Raven, I found a raven mask. And it was gorgeous. This is a version of it.
Also qualifies for Inktober (boo-yah)!

See you again tomorrow!
