Halloween Continues to Approach

My only regret this Inktober is that I didn't make more of an effort to get involved with other artists on it. The competition and inspiration from comparing to others' work is hard to replace.

But there's only one week left of this, and the rest of my life (you know, stuff like being a wife and a mom and keeping the house together...not-so-small stuff) is starting to catch up with me.

Getchya caught up on Inktober thus far:

Day 20 - Bats and a kitty

Day 21 - Witch's kitty

Day 22 - My kitty (this one is alarmingly accurate to real life)

Day 23 - The mask I wish I owned and would wear EVERY DAY

Day 24 - Haunted Forest

And there is a lovely Autumn storm brewing up outside. It's perfect: overcast skies, gusty winds, gold and yellow leaves whipping past my window. Aaaah. Life is good.

Halfway Through Inktober

It surprises me how well Inktober has been going this year. We are more than halfway through the month and I have been keeping up.

Admirably, I might add.

Want to see?

Day 11 - Haunted House
Day 12 - The Crucible

Day 13 - Silly Ghosts

Day 14 - Bats

Day 15 - Kitty Witch

Day 16 - Downright Creepy

Day 17 - Jack-o-Lantern

Day 18 - Birthday to my sister

Day 19 - Skull

See?

Sure, nothing else is getting done in my life, like...at all, but this creative momentum feels good.

Another Spooky Scene Completed

It is finished.

Nevermore!

All it needed was a small book, but it REALLY makes the difference.

The design is all over Redbubble, TeePublic, and DesignByHumans.
I'm not sure which I like better: the straight white on black, or the cut-out placed on any color background. Do you have a preference?

White line art on black

It's probably better to have more variety than less, so I guess I'll be updating Redbubble tomorrow.

In the works right now: a graveyard scene, a grim reaper scene, and maybe (probably) some black cats. Lots of black cats. Black cats friggin' everywhere.

Spooky Backgrounds are Fun To Do

Cuz he needed a background:

I guess I should give a shout-out Thank-You to my sister Good Moe-Jo for teaching me how to digitally paint an AWESOME looking full moon. (click the link, check out her comics - they're adorable and hilarious)

This spooky picture WITH awesome background can be printed on notebooks, phone cases, and other things on Redbubble or Design By Humans

And it's the first day of Drawlloween and Inktober!!!

GAH!

I'll get on that right away, I swear!

(digital ink counts for inktober, right?)

Halloween Approacheth...

Autumn is upon us and Halloween is around the corner.

And I realized, I need a boatload more Halloween pictures for Redbubble, Design By Humans, and TeePublic.

So I'm getting to work.

Also, I was going to do Drawlloween again this year, but there are two different 2016 calendars out and neither of them look that appealing anyway...so I guess I'm jumping in the Inktober bandwagon this year.
Anyone want to join me? Follow me on Twitter @SuspendedDreams, tag me in you #Inktober drawings and we'll do it together!

Happy Halloween!

What else should I draw for Halloween? I'm open to suggestions.

This Took Some Doing...

Every once in a while I get comments about how cool my Link puppets are, and I feel a little sad that I didn't format them to be anything other than art prints.

And then I did something about it.

See the real deal HERE

Legend of Zelda - Link's Mask
To be found here

This link works, too

These can be found at TeePublic.

It took some time and an exceptional amount of cleverness. I only hope my fellow Legend of Zelda fans will appreciate that.

Make Your Soul Happy

I knew I wanted to make some art today (cuz it's been a while, and when you're an artist not making art for a while, your soul starts to feel it). Wasn't sure how far I'd get.

Imagine my surprise when I was able to FINISH a whole piece.

Might touch up on this a bit tomorrow. Then it'll be posted all over the place, Redbubble, DesignByHumans, and the new store: TeePublic! Check 'em all out, which is your favorite?

Actual Painting

It has been a while (a LONG while) since I've painted with anything besides my computer and Wacom tablet. I wasn't even sure I still knew how.
O_o
But my little girl is approaching 4 years old, which means longer attention spans, which means we can set up and paint TOGETHER.

Sweeeeet!

She requested that we paint on the back porch yesterday. I showed her how to use an easel, and I finished this:

Hearts and buttons and keys - oh my!
Out of curiosity, I uploaded this to Redbubble and Design By Humans.

And I was surprised at how good it looks.

Bags, pillows, phone and tablet cases, notebooks and journals

Check out Redbubble or Design By Humans. Fav it. Share it. Buy it. All those things help.

Color Abuse

I have this terrible habit when I work digitally...

...of changing the color of the entire piece, over and over and over again.

Because it's so easy! You just move a slider back and forth and suddenly, "Oh hey! This looks even better in blue!"

If I were painting in oils or acrylic, I would not have this option. I would have to choose my colors ahead of time and hope I made the best choices because once it's on the canvas
-BOOM-
you're committed to it.

But I don't have that problem on the computer. And I do abuse the hue/saturation sliders. I'll admit that.

It's not just for my wishy-washy non-committal self that I do this. It's for YOU, really.
Cuz now you have more options!

Both of these (and the original green) can be found on Redbubble and no-background versions can be found on Design By Humans
And another pleasant surprise for you:

I finished the Hobbit Puppets!

*victory dance*

I hope this proves to be the beginning of more puppet paintings based on characters from books (and/or movies, I guess). More Lord of the Ring puppets are in order, and I've got some Alice in Wonderland puppets on the back of my mind, too....

What book/movie characters would you want to see as puppets? Tell me in a comment below!

No Sick Days Here

Been sick in bed with terrible phlegmy cough all week (tmi? Idk). Want to know what happens when you're stuck in bed for a week?

Not much.

But if you have a laptop and a Wacom tablet, between coughs you can make stuff like this:

w00t.

I would have more cool new stuff to show you, but I've been asleep a lot this week.

Like, srsly, a lot.

But the phlegmy cough is finally letting up a little bit, hopefully I will have a finished Lord of the Rings Puppet painting by next week.

Looking forward to it? I AM.

I also touched up on an old favorite of mine.

Why do I like skeleton keys in a tree? Why does that even make sense?

Doesn't matter IT'S STILL COOL AND I LOVE IT.

(like these pictures? Check it out on Redbubble, you can get them printed on clothing, posters, bags, notebooks, phone and laptop cases, and LOTS more awesome stuff. Click here.)

TREES

I friggin' LOVE the line art of this. I feel like I was channeling Bill Watterson (look at the line variation, yo!).

So pretty

Even better in color (though my coloring is admittedly less Bill Watterson than I would like), check it:

More pretty

There ought to be something hanging from those branches RIGHT? A Facebook poll revealed a quick winner (as well as half a dozen amazing ideas that will shortly come to fruition):

Level up to Friggin' Sweet

Which is awesome...
but what about a family tree?

I just don't know WHEN TO STOP

O-M-G-O-S-H, Kenna, move on past this tree already.

And I'm trying. I really am.
I just really like drawing trees. Apparently.
To keep myself from doing yet another variation of this tree, I forced myself to move on to another family themed piece.

Imagine this framed and in your living room. Looks good, doesn't it?

This will be printed at 11x14" and available at the Cinco de Mayo Festival, you should drop by if you're in the area. Free event!
And if you're not in the area, fret not, just fill out the Order Form on this page (look on your right, yep, there it is) and I'll send it to you. :)
